Mabel's
Basic Stacked Granola Recipe
Getting Started
Use of a one
quart wide mouthed mason jar is recommended for these wonderful combinations. Substitutions in any of the granola
recipes with good discretion is fine as long as you are replacing liquid with
liquid and dry ingredients with dry ingredients.
I use a funnel so the ingredients do not slide down the sides of the jar
when being layered and I also use the rubber ball end of a turkey baster to gently
pack each addition in the jar.
1 Cup of Rolled Oats
¼ Cup of Dark Brown Sugar
½ Cup of Wheat Germ
½ Cup of Dark Raisins
½ Cup of Shredded Coconut
½ Cup of Silvered Almonds
4 Tablespoons Mabel's
Powdered Vanilla
4 Tablespoons Mabel's
Dried Honey
The baking instructions included on a card with this gift should
state: Dump contents of jar into a
mixing bowl and simply add ¼ cup of maple syrup, honey, or molasses to mixture. Stir well and spread evenly in a thin
layer onto a greased baking sheet. Bake
at 350 degrees for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Enjoy!
For variations you can replace like items with: Pecans, Walnuts, Dried Cherries, Banana,
Pineapple, Currents, Cranberries, Apples, Rye Flakes, Sesame Seeds, Barley Flakes,
Bran, Oat Bran, Barley Flakes, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Vanilla, Honey.
